As the seasons change, so do the needs of our skin. Realistically, you can’t use the same skin care basics during the winter as you use during the summer. The weather you experience in the wintertime is nothing like the weather in the other three seasons of the year. Fortunately, it isn’t that difficult to plan your wintertime skin care regimen. This article has some great tips and tricks that, if you use them, will keep your skin beautiful during the cold, winter months.

In the wintertime, it’s better to use a body soap that is very mild and 100% natural. In the summer, we prefer soaps that have anti-bacterial properties and deodorants. When it’s necessary to use products with these additives, they can be very beneficial. However, if you use them year-round, they can strip your skin of its natural oils and cause it to be dry. We realize that, especially in summer, you feel cleaner and fresher using deodorant soaps. Nonetheless, you don’t need these harsh chemicals in the soap you use in the winter. All you need to use are 100% natural, mild soaps. You want to ideally pick a soap that is unscented. If you can’t find one, than pick one that is lightly scented. However, try to avoid citrus scented soaps, as they tend to be drying. Since your clothes touch your skin, you need to use a scent-free, milder laundry soap as well. And avoid bleach as much as possible.

Your lips are at particular risk during the cold and winter months. It’s not unusual to see someone whose lips have become cracked and are peeling as a result of cold, dry winter weather. It’s to your best interest to keep your lips protected all the time. Find a good chap stick or lip balm that you like. There are some nice beeswax lip balms on the market that do a great job. Don’t fall into the habit of "moisturizing" your lips by licking them. It doesn’t work. Always wear a nice, soft scarf when you go outdoors, and wrap it around your lips. Your lips and nose can both benefit by being covered with your scarf.

Shed those wet clothes as soon as you can! Wearing clothes that are damp can cause skin irritation. Your gloves and your socks are the biggest culprits in this respect. The moisture rubbing against your skin can cause you to develop sores, a rash, itching and a host of other unpleasant conditions. Putting up with wet clothes is just a commonplace irritation that everyone has to deal with when they go outside in rainy or snowy weather. So, as we said before, change into warm, dry clothes as soon as possible. Those of you who work may wisely decide to have a change of clothing – or at least dry socks – tucked away somewhere at your work place, or even in a duffle bag in your car. You want to ensure that you stay warm and that your clothes are dry.

Happily, you can maintain healthy look and feeling all year long, even when it is quite cold. There are lots of ways you can keep your skin free of blemishes, with that wholesome look. If you get discouraged when trying some of these products, you need to bear in mind that the perfect product for your skin will likely not be the first couple that you try; you just have not tried the right one yet.
