How to Have Great Skin in the Winter

The only way you can use the same skin care regimen all year is if you live in an area that has the same weather during all four seasons. A majority of people, however, must pay attention to the weather conditions and buy the appropriate skin care products to protect their skin. With a little trial and error, you can soon have a good skin care routine for each of the seasons. Your skin will then glow and be healthy no matter what the temperature is outside. With that being said, what exactly do you change to optimize your skin during the winter? Keep a dermatologist close at hand. Your dermatologist will have the information that may be necessary to tell what the fundamental causes are for your skin troubles; as to whether it is due to weather changes or something more. If your skin dilemma is extreme, your dermatologist should prescribe a medication that will take care of it for you.

When seeing your dermatologist for a regular visit, without a particular skin crisis; they will be able to advise you on methods you can use to keep you skin healthy and free of future eruption.

You want to keep the hydration of your skin in mind when you are looking for a wintertime cleansing cream. When you are deciding on a moisturizer to apply to your skin after you cleanse and tone it, a good selection would be one that is milk-based. These types of moisturizers are wonderful on your skin and leave it soft and pliable. Your toner shouldn’t have any alcohol in it, because alcohol will just dry out your skin further, and you might have to deal with cracking, peeling, and chapping. Just keep in mind that in the winter, you want products that hydrate your skin, whereas in the summer you want to use formulations that help keep your skin dry.

If your clothes get wet, get changed quick! If your clothes – especially your gloves and socks – get wet, your skin can become irritated. The moisture rubbing against your skin can cause you to develop sores, a rash, itching and a host of other unpleasant conditions. Putting up with wet clothes is just a commonplace irritation that everyone has to deal with when they go outside in rainy or snowy weather. The wisest solution, therefore, is to change from wet to dry clothing as soon as you can. If you work, you might consider putting a change of clothes somewhere convenient at your workplace. At least stick a couple of pairs of socks in your desk drawer. You want to ensure that you stay warm and that your clothes are dry. As the seasons change, so will the needs of your skin. What you need to keep your skin healthy during the summer is different than what you need to keep your skin healthy during the winter. The reason is that in the colder months, the impact on our skin is a lot different than it is during the more temperate months. It’s important to remember, also, that proper wintertime skin care involves caring for your entire body, not just the skin on your face and your hands. It may seem daunting at first, but when you have adapted to the idea, and know what to do each season, your skin will reward you every time you look in the mirror.
